September Update
In August, the filter building’s foundation slab was prepared for concrete and then poured. Preparations included installing anchor bolts in the foundation piers, placing floor drains, embedding conduits within the foundation mattress, and installing smooth dowels along planned construction joints.
The concrete pour took place overnight from Wednesday, August 20th to Thursday, August 21st to avoid the high summer daytime temperatures that can hinder proper curing. Approximately 160 cubic yards of concrete were poured, delivered by 20 separate trucks. Once the slab cured, formwork was removed, and crews transitioned focus to the electrical duct bank.
In September, work will continue on the electrical duct bank. Crews will also install the 16-inch raw water line within the plant site, which will convey source water, pumped from the San Jacinto River Authority canal, to the filters. In addition, installation of the sanitary sewer system will begin, to transport wastewater offsite.
