At its January meeting, the Newport MUD Board of Directors voted to provide an increased benefit to its taxpayers who are over 65 or disabled. The District increased its 2020 tax exemption to $27,500 in assessed value, up from the prior amount of $20,000. Harris County Appraisal District makes the determination of who is eligible to receive this exemption. If you believe you may be entitled to this exemption, you should make an application with HCAD.
