Newport Municipal Utility District will begin the scheduled maintenance of the Elevated Storage Tank located on Golf Club Dr. The Elevated Storage Tank uses gravity to provide steady pressure to the water distribution system and provides emergency storage for fire protection. It also helps Newport MUD to continue to provide water service to the District during power outages.
The District recently went through a competitive bidding process and has contracted with M.K. Painting to repaint the interior and exterior coating on the Elevated Storage Tank. The construction is expected to begin Wednesday, January 29, 2020 and be completed by the end of May 2020, weather permitting.
During construction, the contractor will place a protective shroud around the tank to keep construction material contained within the construction area. M.K. Painting will take precautions to minimize the impact to the Newport residents. However, we kindly ask that Newport residents proceed with caution when in the proximity of the Surface Water Treatment Plant.
We appreciate your patience while the work is ongoing. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact a District Representative at 281-324-9803.
